I'm on a roll with bumper stickers. Today I saw a car with, among other things, one of those silver christian fish that has Darwin in the middle and feet on the bottom. There was also a bumper sticker that said "God Bless the Whole World". I am having trouble understanding why someone who doesn't believe in God would have a sticker that says "God Bless the Whole World". Bizarre.
I'm glad to see bumper stickers that have sentiments like "God Bless the Whole World". The "God Bless America" ones make me pretty uncomfortable. Truthfully though, I'd rather see one that says something like "God Bless the World with the Knowledge of His Saving Grace" or some such thing. The "God Bless America" ones remind me of the song by Keith Green with the lines:
Oh, bless me Lord, oh bless me Lord,
you know that's all I ever hear.
No one hurts, no one aches,
no one even sheds one tear.
But He cries, He weeps, He bleeds,
and He cares for your needs,
and you just sit back and keep soaking it in.
We sure act like God is Santa Claus sometimes. Gimme, gimme, gimme.
Those Darwin fish were quite a clever idea on someone's part, BTW.
